The pH levels of the body's internal fluids affect every single cell in the body. Increases or decreases in pH denature enzymes, harm important metabolic processes and can result in serious health consequences. This, in turn, affects the tissues, organs, and even the nervous system and signals from the brain.
Using Your URINE pH as a Reflection of Your Level of Health
The normal range of pH of urine fluctuates from 4.5 to 8. Urine pH is a good screening test to help predict a variety of disease states within the body. The diet has a huge influence on the pH of the urine and the body's pH throughout the day. Citrus fruits, legumes, and vegetables raise the pH, making the urine more alkaline. Meats and cranberry juice have the opposite effect, making urine more acidic.
A first morning urine pH test is the only pH test worth doing. The body's first morning urine tells you what the kidneys are doing. The kidneys do their work overnight and the urine produced in the morning is usually acidic. To neutralize acidic waste, drinking alkaline water and eating an alkaline diet is imperative. Otherwise, sodium, magnesium, and calcium are depleted and the body begins to steal calcium from the bones to neutralize acidic waste in the kidneys. In severe cases, this will result in osteoporosis.

Before I go into detail on the benefits of infrared saunas, I thought you'd like to know this is my #1 secret to staying healthy, along with drinking the right kind of alkaline water. Step 1: Change Your Color Palette
Ditch the white stuff! White foods -- white bread, white flour, pasta, sugar, cakes, pies, muffins, donuts -- are bound to add pounds to your waistline and little or nothing to your nutrition. That’s because all these “white” foods have a high-glycemic index, raising your blood sugar rapidly, only to have it crash and burn, causing you to crave more sweets (and fattening white stuff) hours later.
Sugar is bad. Most of us already know that. It adds empty calories—those that don’t offer any nutrition, but certainly add pounds. The average American consumes two to three pounds of sugar a week. Food Dyes -- Why You Should Avoid Them?
Turn on any nightly news report on television or the radio, or open any newspaper these days to the food section, and you will find lots of mounting and eye-opening information on food dyes, food colorings, and other chemicals and why we should avoid them. • Avocado – The Aztecs called the avocado tree “Ahuacuatil,” which means, translated, “testicle tree.” The ancients thought the fruit hanging in pairs on the tree resembled the male’s testicles. Getting the Most from this Simple, Effective Detox-Cleanse
Do this detox~cleanse for a minimum of 5 days or all the way up to 10 days. To extend it longer than five days, you have two options. You can do this program for 5 days and then repeat it for another 5 days. Simple. Or you can choose to consume the specific food or liquid for two days each instead of one — to make it a full 10-day program. Or, for example, if you want to do this for 7 days, you could extend the first two days to 48 hours each (instead of 24 hours) followed by only one day each for the rest — making it a full 7 days. In other words, you can custom design it to fit the days you have available to cleanse, but strive for at least the full 5 days. If I’m doing 10 days, I usually start on a Friday, so that I complete it on a Sunday. When doing it for five, six, seven, or eight days, start any day you wish that fits into your schedule and routine. However, before embarking on the full 10-day cleanse for the very first time, start with the 5-day only and see how great you feel and look at the end. In other words, do a full five days on the program once to completion, then resume your healthy diet before doing a longer, second cleanse of, say 10 days.
This simple program revitalizes and cleanses the entire body, head to toe, inside out. You can also substitute any fresh berries for the papaya, or other juicy, organic fruit for the papaya day, if you can’t get them in season. I have substituted Day 3 with apples, pears, blueberries, raspberries, cherries, pineapple, or mango, if I couldn’t find the ripe papayas. Pick one fruit and stick with it all day. And, if possible, find some delicious papayas. I prefer all organic fruit during this cleanse. Most cities have watermelon and cantaloupe (or other melons) year-round. While the cantaloupe and the watermelon are the most ideal and plentiful in most places during the summer and fall seasons, you can substitute other high water-content melons, if needed.
In addition to the fruit, also drink at least 6-8 glasses of purified water each day along with de-caffeinated teas of your choice (if desired). 1) The Airport Fiasco & the Sweet Lady — Excerpt from The Joy Factor:
Recently I was moved by a gesture of love at the airport. I was leaving Portland, Oregon, to fly to Los Angeles. Because of stormy weather, most flights were delayed, and some were canceled. The airport was crowded with unhappy travelers, so I was delighted that for some reason my flight was scheduled to leave on time. As they announced the final boarding, I noticed a harried man running up to the counter with his briefcase in one hand and his ticket in the other. The ticket agent said that unfortunately his reservation had been cleared and his seat given away. She told him politely and kindly that she would do everything she could to get him a seat on a later flight. Her response was clearly not acceptable to him as reflected by his inappropriate behavior.
