beetsBeets are renowned for their nitrate content, which is why they’re so effective. When you consume beets, your body converts the dietary nitrates into nitrite, which is then transformed into nitric oxide. Nitric oxide is a molecule that relaxes and widens your blood vessels, leading to lower blood pressure.

A highly-cited randomized controlled trial published in “Hypertension" in 2015 by Kapil, Khambata, Robertson and colleagues demonstrated the effectiveness of daily beetroot juice supplementation in reducing blood pressure in hypertensive patients. The study showed a sustained blood pressure reduction over four weeks, with an average drop of 7.7 mm Hg in systolic blood pressure compared to the placebo group.

Barley and Beet Max JarsWhat sets this study apart is the emphasis on “sustained” blood pressure reduction. While many trials show a short-term drop in blood pressure after consuming beet juice, this study found that the effects of beet juice are long-lasting. The nitrite produced by beets continues to work as long as you continue to consume them.

Combining beets, spinach and carrots in a fresh juice creates an excellent nitric oxide delivery system. Spinach is one of the highest-nitrate vegetables, gram for gram, while carrots add antioxidants that protect nitric oxide from being broken down before it can be utilized. Fresh juice is an ideal way to consume dietary nitrate because it reacts with the bacteria in your mouth instantly, leading to an efficient conversion of nitrate into nitric oxide in your body. The synergy of these three vegetables is greater than the sum of their individual effects.

CarrotMaxHow to use it: Fresh juice of beets, carrots and spinach is ideal. If you’re short on time or not interested in juicing daily BeetMax is a convenient, concentrated and cold-pressed beet powder that delivers the same nitric oxide pathway in a glass of water. I take BeetMax daily (via Hallelujah Diet) by adding it to my water or smoothies on days when I’m not juicing or simply when I need an extra energy boost.

To Order: Use the same number I do to order with Connie at Hallelujah Diet —704-406-6238 ET. This product is available in powder and capsule form, depending on your preference.

Cold-Processed Barley Grass Powder — BarleyMax:

TrioMaxBy the way, I’ve also been taking the Hallelujah Diet’s BarleyMax daily for 20 years. Barley grass juice powder has a completely different profile compared to whole grain barley. It’s rich in chlorophyll, enzymes and concentrated micronutrients, making it one of nature’s most nutrient-dense foods. While I rarely have the time or interest to juice fresh cut barley grass, I’ll definitely continue enjoying the benefits of easy-to-take BarleyMax every day since it takes seconds for me to reap the benefits.

How to use it: BarleyMax can be easily added to water, smoothies or any juice. I actually enjoy taking a heaping teaspoon of it dry and letting it melt in my mouth. It comes in both their Original and Berry Flavored BarleyMax, and both are delicious and incredibly nutritious! You can’t go wrong with these two superfoods added to your diet. Kids love and benefit from it, too, and so will your pets.

H/M coverTo Order: Use the same number I use to ask questions or order both BarleyMax and BeetMax at Hallelujah Diet, Connie at 704-406-6238 ET. She’s the kind, helpful person I call to reorder these products. This is the only company in the world that offers these top-notch, cold-processed, health-enhancing products MyHDiet.com.

You also have the option of getting their TrioMax capsules or powder, which combine BarleyMax, BeetMax and CarrotJuiceMax. For convenience, I usually carry these capsules with me when I travel to ensure my nutritional needs are met.
