How September Got Its Name: It's Latin for Septem - seven. The old Roman calendar began with March, until the Julian calendar reform in 46 BC moved the new year back two months.October got its name from the Latin word “octo” which means eight. It was actually the eighth month in Roman calendar and the name got carried from there to our calendar.
For those of us living in the northern hemisphere, we'll have the good fortune of seeing the autumn leaves turn colors. The magnificence of nature orchestrating her magic with changing colors is sheer delight to me. I've captured Mother Nature's resplendence with many of the photos in this newsletter.

We all live on Spaceship Earth. More than ever before, we need more kindness in the world. I'm sure you'll agree with me. The worldwide news these days is chaotic and dreadful. Kindness is the elixir of life and the uplifting refreshment we all need daily. Most people's lives are filled with stress. A kind word of encouragement, a compliment, a pat on the back or a hug, a thank-you note — we all need these thoughtful gestures. Find ways to express yourself with thoughtfulness these two months and beyond — even during business meetings, throughout your workday, or when you're in traffic running errands. Everyone benefits from kindness, and it starts with you — being kind to yourself and offering kindness to others. September and October are great months to recommit to your health program — before the holidays begin — to plant the seeds for what you want to create for the next four months of the year, and to make better choices that support your self-esteem and celebrate life and each other.
